Iyengar Yoga
I have been practising Iyengar Yoga since 1985 and after attending at least 2 classes a week, decided after 8 years of practise to start Iyengar Teacher Training in 1993. I have been teaching since 1995 and qualified as an Introductory Iyengar Yoga Teacher L1 in 1997 then in 2002 as L2, gaining my Iyengar Yoga Teaching Certificate. I am a certified and fully insured member of the Iyengar Yoga (UK) Teaching Association.
The Iyengar method isn't fast paced: it's precise on alignment and can be challenging but we use the props to assist and enable a wide range of bodies in the poses as we learn to increase our balance, range of movement and stamina. Alternative poses can be given where needed. It's great for stretching, toning & flexibility, relieves stress and fatigue so helps mood and mental well being. I personally can't imagine my life without it! So I hope to encourage others to enjoy and benefit from it as much as I have and perhaps also become lifelong devotees.
